For my independent research I will be looking into the art of carving, it’s cultural significant and it’s evolution/changes.
I will be looking at literature discussing the changes and origins of aspects of Māori carving.
The research I will be presenting will relate to our group idea of pacific histories from an art history perspective. I wish to give a brief understanding and some cultural context to aspects of Māori carving. (I may also wish to write about he artist them selves and how they work within the art of carving)
